We have been asking ourselves, our friends, and family, WHAT IS OUR “WHY”?. Why do we do the work that we do? Reflecting on these responses has elevated our work, propelling us ahead with renewed purpose and energy, grounded firmly in our mission.

When asked to tell us why so many people loved YWCA NENY, and our impactful work, this is just some of what we heard:

“We are all growing together and constantly learning how to make our little corner of the earth a nicer place”
“Being a survivor changed the course of my life. Without knowing it, the women we help are walking along the same path as I am and that empowers me every day to keep healing.”
“The YW has become my home away from home, the place I come to make a difference where I can in this world”
This Spring, we want you to consider your ‘WHY’. Why do you support YWCA NENY? Have you attended an event or been a longtime supporter seeing our growth first hand? Did you swim in our once bustling pool or meet us out in the community as we are walking the walk spreading our mission? Or, have you called out to end domestic violence walking next to us at our Take Back the Night March? Or, have you needed our housing, domestic violence or early learning services at some point in your life? WHAT is YOUR “WHY?”
