At the Empowerment, Healing and Wellness Center, we’ve created something special, a cozy, joy-filled hair salon tucked right inside our domestic violence shelter. We call it the Mini-Mermaid Lounge, because that’s exactly how our clients should feel: transformed, cared for, and seen.

If you’re a hair stylist or makeup artist with a heart for service (and a knack for making people glow), we’d love to welcome you into our volunteer crew. Your talent can help someone feel strong again.

Sometimes a fresh cut or a swipe of lipstick is the spark that reminds a survivor: I’m still here… and I’m still powerful.

Confidentiality & Safety

Because our center provides confidential shelter for individuals and families escaping domestic violence, all volunteers must follow strict privacy and safety guidelines.
This means: 1. No sharing client names, personal information, or identifying details — ever. 2. No photos of clients or the salon when clients are present. 3. Respecting all staff guidance on safety and privacy
To volunteer inside the shelter, every stylist and artist must complete a background check and sign a confidentiality agreement before beginning services.
